Linda A. Sherman, 71, of Dayton, passed away early Saturday morning, on August 10, 2013, at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough. She was the wife of Charles A. Sherman III for 50 years.

She was born in Cranston, Rhode Island, on May 2, 1942, a daughter of Kenneth and Enid (Christopher) Sherman.

Linda graduated from Warwick Veterans Memorial High School, class of 1960. She attended University of Rhode Island for several years. She married her husband Charles on January 26, 1963 and moved to Dayton in 1969. Linda graduated from the University of Maine, Gorham Campus, with a Bachelor of Science in Education. She was employed as a teacher for the Kennebunk School system for 32 years. Linda was known for jumping into many school projects with enthusiasm and commitment. Her hobbies included snowmobiling, horseback riding and gardening. She enjoyed traveling, water color painting, classical music and the theater. Linda was a warm and caring person who loved you for who you were. Mrs. Sherman was an active member of United Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school and volunteered on all church committees.

She was predeceased by her daughter in law Lynn Hubbard Sherman.

In addition to her husband she is survived by her mother Enid Sherman, her son Charles A. "Carl" Sherman IV and his partner Diane Paul, one daughter Nancy E. Howe and her fiancée Dan Yates, Two grandchildren - Ashley and William St. Pierre, Her three brothers, Robert, Donald and Richard Sherman. One sister Deborah Silvia, and many nieces and nephews

A Funeral Service was held on Saturday on August 17, 2013, at United Baptist Church, 318 Main Street Saco.
