Markie Wicker Thomas, 54 of 4416 Colon Road, Sanford, N.C., died Wednesday November 7, 2007, in Moore County, N.C.
She was born in Lee County, N.C. and was the daughter of the late Hobart B. Wicker and Ruby Emma Marks Wicker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Jimmy Wicker. She was a dental hygienist and was employed by Dr. David R. Kuhn. Mrs. Thomas was a member of Zion Christian Church where she was a member of the choir, taught a Sunday School class, and was a member of the missions team. She graduated from Deep River High School and was a graduate of The U.N.C.-Chapel Hill dental hygiene program.
Mrs. Thomas is survived by her husband Jimmie Thomas of the home; two daughters, Katie Thomas of the home and Leigh Thomas of Bedford, N.Y.; three brothers, Hobert D. Wicker and wife Sandra, Hubert W. Wicker and wife Linda, and Tommy Wicker and wife Nancy all of the Deep River Community of Sanford.
The family will receive friends at the Fellowship Hall of Zion Christian Church on Friday, November 9, 2007, from 6 to 8 p.m. and also following the service on Saturday morning. The funeral service will be conducted Saturday, November 10, 2007, at 11 a.m. at Zion Christian Church, 6401 Zion Church Road, Sanford, N.C. with the Rev. Steve Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the Zion Christian Church Cemetery.
