Mr. Perkins was born May 15, 1938, in Lamar County, AL, to the late Loyd and Fannie Hollis Perkins. He served in the National Guard, and was an equipment operator for the Lamar County Commissions office and the City of Vernon. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Helen Perkins; his grandson, Ben Barrow; and his brother, Robert Perkins.
A graveside service will be Tuesday, November 9, at 1:00 PM, at Fellowship Baptist Cemetery, with Chris Hunnicutt officiating.
Survivors include his wife, Sarah Perkins; his children, Tony (Ann) Perkins, Annette (Paul) Young, and Janette (David) Robinson; two step-children, Patricia (Brent) Trentham and Robert (Tracy) Motes; two grandchildren, Amy (Jeremy) Wilson and Kevin (Krystal) Perkins; one great-grandson, Samuel Perkins; one brother, Thomas Perkins; three sisters, Faye Taylor, Janie Haynes, and Brenda Sartin; five step-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
