He worked maintenance at Guardsman Chemical and retired from Indiana Labor Union 795. He was an Army Infantry veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of American Legion Bonnie Sloan Post 28.
Melvin is survived by his wife, Deva M. Ramsey of Clarksville, IN., daughters, Freida M. Kimbler of Russell, KY., Belinda S. Fulkerson of Clarksville, IN., Teresa A. Summers of New Albany, IN., Debra L. Traughber of St. Matthews, KY.; brothers, Dennis Ramsey of Economy, INBenjamin Ramsey of Poinciana, FL.Jerry Ramsey of Danville, KY; sister Sandy Muse of Stanford, KY.; 13 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.
Melvin was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Ramsey and Alma Shepherd; brothers Donald and Gray Ramsey; sister, Sue Deatherage and Verna Henderson.
His funeral service will be 2:00 PM, Tuesday November 9, 2021 at E. M. Coots' Sons Funeral Home with burial to follow in Walnut Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM on Tuesday.
