Private graveside services were held for James K. Fisher, M.D., also known as "Fish" who passed away on November 5, 2021.
He was born in Independence, MO on July 8, 1943. He leaves behind his loving and adored wife of 52 years, Kathy, three children Stephanie and husband Mike Carrithers, of Council Bluffs, Iowa, James K. Jr and wife Liz Fisher, of Philadelphia, PA, and Christopher and wife Gretchen Fisher, of Overland Park, KS and six grandchildren. (Stephen, Lexie, Skyler, Sienna, Lillian and James III). He was preceded in his death by his parents Mr. and Mrs. Charles B. Fisher, Sr. He led a joyful, rich life with brothers Chuck, John, and Don as well as his sister Cynthia. He leaves behind friendly members of the stroke club, many fishing buddies and Navy stories.

Jim grew up in Kansas City, Kansas and Johnson County, KS, attending Wyandotte and Shawnee Mission East high schools, graduating from the latter in 1961. He completed all of his education in Kansas City, achieving A.S., B.S., and M.D. degrees earning many honors and awards. He interned at St. Luke's Hospital (1969-70) and did his radiology residency there as well (1973-76). He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving from 1968 to 1974, attending the Vietnam conflict while on the USS Halsey (DLG 23, COMDESRON 7) and serving at the Coronado Amphibious base in San Diego, California.

During his practice of radiology (training hundreds of medical students and residents) he worked at St. Luke's Hospital for 25 years; he was also program Director for the Radiology residency, Director of the Radiology Technology program teaching anatomy and physiology for several years, co-authored one book and published 23 scientific articles while giving 48 scientific presentations. He authored a Manual of Radiology Fluoroscopic Techniques. He examined for the America Board of Radiology and was a professor of radiology at UMKC from 1982-1999. He was a member of the honorary AOA fraternity and also a member of the American College of Radiology as well as a member in many associations and societies. He finished his career working with the Radiology and Nuclear Medicine Group in Topeka, KS, for ten years covering all of Topeka and many adjoining communities. He retired in 2010.
