Lillie J. Winfrey was born Oct. 30, 1937, in Greeley, Colo. She grew up in Colorado Springs, Colo., graduating from high school there. She married Everette F. Rains on Jan. 9, 1956, in Steamboat Springs, Colo.; he died July 22, 2002. They lived in several communities until settling in Fremont in 1986. She did secretarial work during the early years of her marriage. She attended Fremont Church of God, where she played the organ and later attended the First Baptist Church in Fremont.
Survivors include: seven sons, Everette L. Rains of N.D.; George Rains of Hooper, Alvis (and wife, Catrina) Rains of Butte, Mont., Rev. Harold (and wife, Bronwyn) Rains of Big Timber, Mont., Robert Rains, Michael (and wife, Nikki) Rains, and Everette F. Rains, III, all of Fremont; six daughters, Delilah (Mrs. Michael) White of Monroe, La., Rowena (Mrs. Robert) Gonzales, Martha Rains, Lillie (Mrs. Matthew) Hammond, Ruby Mittura, and Ida (Mrs. Don) Hammond, all of Fremont; 53 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by her parents, three grandchildren and a great-grandchild. The Rev. Walter Hickman of First Baptist Church in Fremont will officiate Friday's service. Visitation will be 4-9 p.m. today, with family receiving friends 6:30-8 p.m., at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. Visitation also will be 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Friday, also at the funeral home. Burial will be in Ridge Cemetery in Fremont.
She is also preceded in death by an infant half brother (Baby Boy Griggs) buried in Childress, Texas and an older half sister, Malinda Vivian Griggs (last name and place of burial unknown).
