Erie's own "Jimmy Buffett" Edward Nelson Dietz, Jr., age 59, of Erie, sailed on to eternal peace. Ed was the son of Dolores Marie Sharaff Dietz of Harborcreek and the late Edward Nelson Dietz. Ed attended St. James, St. Boniface and Cathedral Prep and graduated from Wattsburg High School in 1970. After graduation, he worked for Zurn Industries Energy Division for 23 years until they closed in 1993. He then returned to school to become self-employed as an HVAC contractor and later as a realtor for Foht Realtors. Ed's greatest passion, however, was music. He was a disc jockey for several years at Irish Cousins in Lawrence Park and spun tunes at many weddings and parties. He played the guitar, bass and sang lead vocals for a number of local bands. Ed enjoyed cheering on the Cleveland Browns, and for years golfed on the Park Tavern Golf League.

In addition to his mother, Ed is survived by his wife Mary, whom he married July 13, 2007, his son Edward N. Dietz, III (Suzanne) of Corry, Pa., daughter Adrianne Vinyard (Brandon) of Pensacola, FL; five grandchildren; step-children; step grandchildren; sisters Eileen (Joseph) Pfeiffer and Sherri (Richard) Ramsdell; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews; and his dog Sharkey.
