Mrs. Aletta G Stewart
Mrs. Alletta Stewart, widow of the late Hon. William Stewart, died Saturday morning at her home in Mercer from a stroke of apoplexy, aged 83 years. Mrs. Stewart's maiden name was Alletta G Gaston and she was born in New Jersey, July 3, 1826. Her husband, who was prominent in the affairs of the county, having served two terms in the state senate and two terms in the congress, died in 1876. To their marriage seen children were born, of which four survive, Mrs. A.S. Gillett, of Sioux City; Mrs. D.T. Gillman and Robert A., of Omaha, and Miss Alletta, at home.

Mrs. Stewart was one of the best known ladies in town, and was loved and honored by all with whom she was acquainted. She was a communicant of the First Presbyterian church and gave freely of her time and substance to the work of her church and was especially interested in mission work. The funeral was held Monday. Interment in the Mercer cemetery.
