Donald Ray Hopkins (Donnie) was born on December 28, 1955 in Washington DC to the late Sim and Betty Jane Hopkins. He entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, October 6, 2021, at the Novant UVA Hospital at the age of 65.
Donnie as everyone called him worked construction for many different companies. He also loved to fish, cook and dance (Oh boy did he think he could dance). Donnie was funny and could keep you laughing with his quick clap backs and even funnier responses.
Donnie was preceded in death by his father Sim Hopkins, Jr, mother Betty Jane Hopkins and sister Carolyn Hopkins. He leaves to cherish his memories his children; Shawn White and Antione White; one brother Carl Harris (Valarie), six sisters Marie Harrington, Eugenia Hopkins, Mary Hopkins, Patricia Hopkins, Jacqueline Hopkins and Doretha Hopkins-Cottoms (Robert); eight grandchildren Shaquille White, Olajuwon (Jordan) Campbell, Jayden Curtis, Kobe White, Antwain White, Cameron White, Elisabeth White and Emilee White; three great grandchildren Draelyn White, Keyone Campbell, Kailani Campbell and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
