Ronald "Ron" Thomas Graves, 79, of Keysville, Virginia died September 18, 2021 in the arms of the Lord at Lynchburg Hospital. Born in Alexandria, Virginia on April 7, 1942 to Thomas and Marie (Brown) Graves. He is preceded in death by his parents and his wife Patricia "Patt" Ann (Nuckols) the love of his life.

Ron believed in a life of service to others; as a teenager, he was a volunteer firefighter until he was old enough to join the Alexandria Police Department where he served with distinction for 37 years in various positions, which included Criminal Investigations (CID), the Tactical Unit and Special Operations. Ron held the distinction of having formed and commanded the City's first Special Operations Team (SWAT). Upon retiring as a sworn officer, he served as the Range Manager for Alexandria and then Prince William Police Departments. He was a proud and active member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans and served as the Commander of the Charlotte Grays. Following in his father's footsteps, he was also pleased to be a Scottish Rite Freemason. Ron had also been active in the Ruritan National Club prior to moving to Keysville. Ron was very proud of his family history and his deep Virginia roots. He had a strong love of the land, horses, and being outdoors which he passed onto his daughter.

He was buried next to his wife on September 22, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. at Cool Springs Christian Church Cemetery in Keysville, Virginia.
