Surrounded by his loving family, David James Ryan went to be with his Lord and Savior on November 5, 2021. David was born March 24, 1947 in Enid, Oklahoma, the only child of Gregg J. and Elizabeth Laverne (Mechem) Ryan.

David grew up in Muskogee, Oklahoma, a wonderful hometown, with loving parents. Even at an early age, David was committed to his family and his church.

He graduated Northeastern State University with a degree in Business Administration/Management. He went on to join the Air Force in serving during the Vietnam Era. David retired from OG&E. He was blessed to work for such a good company.

September 1981, David was ordained as a Deacon at First Baptist Church, Sapulpa. He was a faithful servant of Christ. He was active with the Muskogee Jaycees (editor of paper 1975-77), Kiwanis Club of Poteau (1982-87); and served on many committees at OG&E.

David raised two outstanding sons with their magnificent, Christian mother, Ernie and they were his pride and joy. His proudest family moments were his sons' high school and college graduation. Anytime he was in the presence of his sons and grandkids, he had a smile on his face. They brought him so much happiness.

In his free time, David enjoyed playing and watching sports –especially OU football, Cardinal baseball and Thunder basketball!

David married Diana Gamble on April 20, 2018 and there was not a day that went by that he was not thankful for her being in his life.

His parents Gregg and LaVerne Ryan and the mother of his boys Ernestine Ryan preceded David in death.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife Diana M. Ryan; children Kelly D. Ryan and wife Allison, Jeff N. Ryan and wife Catie Ryan; grandchildren Ruthie E. Ryan, Brooks D. Ryan, Hadley K. Ryan, and many friends who will miss him dearly.

A service to celebrate David will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, November 10, 2021 at Quail Springs Baptist Church, 14613 N. May Avenue, Oklahoma City, OK 73134.

Donations can be made in David's name to American Cancer Society.
