Mr. Mervine, born in Frackville, was the son of Alfred G. and Amelia Shartell Mervine, and was the last member of his immediate family. He had been a miner. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church.
Surviving are his widow, the former Anna Flail; four sons: William A. Jr., Frackville; Howard E. Woodbridge, VA; Melvin W. Montebello, CA; Curtis A., Perth Amboy, NJ; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Monday morning from the Robert F. Hoppes Funeral Home, Frackville, with the Rev. J. Robert Kehrli officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Frackville.
