John loved music, and found great joy in recent years in playing with his friends at local gatherings, at First Fridays sponsored by the Equinunk Historical Society, and at Lakewood Lodge with the Gone Fishin' Band. If asked the question "What do you do?", his answer would be "I'm a musician. But I have to drive a truck to make a living." He was always reading something, but among his favorite authors were Mark Twain, J. R. R. Tolkien, Walt Kelly, and Wendell Berry.
John is survived by his wife Kathy, his daughter Nora Lee Hall and her husband Chris, son Lynn Michael Snyder and his wife Jennifer, and his beloved granddaughters Lily and Emma Hall and Veronica Snyder. Also surviving are his sister Linda Snyder Koons and her husband Craig, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
John will be laid to rest privately in his favorite place on earth, on land that has been part of the family for six generations.
