Douglas Cooper
June 15, 1957 - August 3, 2021
Arlington , Texas - Mr. Douglas Dayton Cooper passed away at his home on August 3rd, 2021.
Doug was born in the summer of 1957 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Bill and Ann Elizabeth Cooper. Having grown up in Fort Worth, Doug lived briefly in Mississippi and Alabama before settling in Arlington, Texas. He earned a master's degree in Social Work from the University of Texas at Arlington and spent the majority of his professional career in the field of counseling and social work, helping others.
A skilled guitarist, Doug was fond of the close friends he jammed and wrote songs with over the years. He was an avid reader (a habit passed on to his children) and consumed history textbooks and biographies like air. One of Doug's favorite things to do was to watch/discuss/debate the arts, sports, current events, and the meaning of it all – especially with his son Will or brother Richard.
By far, the greatest pride of Doug's life were grandchildren Sean, Ewan, and Bridget. He loved to brag about them, encourage them in their endeavors, and listen to the sound of their laughter. They will miss their "Peepops" dearly.
Doug will be remembered as a kind and generous man. He is survived by loved ones Richard and Sally, Sarah and Will, Kate and Mike, and three beloved grandchildren.
The family asks that any gifts or donations in memory of Doug Cooper be presented to AIDS Outreach Center (https://www.aoc.org/donate).
