Renowned Furniture Designer, Architect. St. Louis native Eames began his architectural studies at Washington University. After returning from Europe, he founded the firm of Gray & Eames. His work mainly consisted of designs for stained glass, textiles, furniture and ceramics. In 1839 he received a fellowship to Cranbrook Academy in Michigan where he studied and worked with Eero Saarinen. He formed a design partnership with his wife Ray Kaiser and applied a Japanese simplicity to modern buildings. He continued to work as an architect until the mid-1960s, after which he concentrated on furniture design, film-making and exhibition design.
