Randy was born on August 5, 1957, in Brookfield, MO, the son of Tom and Catherine (Tinsley) Boyd. He was a 1975 graduate of Brookfield High School and then enlisted in the United States Army. Randy was united in marriage to Lori Neighbors in May of 1976, and they share 45 years together. After his time in the Army, Randy moved to Huntsville, MO and went to work for Chariton Valley Telephone Corporation, where he was employed for more than 32 years. Randy took an active role in the community of Huntsville and always enjoyed helping wherever he could. He was a volunteer fire fighter for over 30 years, serving as Assistant Chief and Lieutenant. Randy served several terms on the board of directors of Happy Homes Manor, and always dreaded getting the occasional call to come rescue one of the little old ladies from a snake that crawled into their apartment. He was an active member of Huntsville Lions Club, where he spent numerous hours working on the current facility and serving tenderloins and hamburgers at the Huntsville Horse Show and Old Settlers. Along with his good friend, Buddy Stuck, they would serve as delivery drivers for the Lions Club Eye and Tissue Bank of Central Missouri. Randy was extremely proud to be awarded the Lions Club Man of the Year award. He was also a member of the Huntsville Christian Church where he always made sure the grass was mowed and the snow was shoveled. Randy was an avid bowler and bowled many years with Bud Bryan and the Thelma's Guys. He loved to attend his children's and grandchildren's sporting events and spent countless hours coaching and encouraging them. Randy was a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and the Kansas City Chiefs. Over the past few years when his health was failing, he could always be found in front of the television where he could keep an eye on Marshall Dillion and the Cartwright Boys.
He is survived by his wife, Lori of the home; two children, Rendi Boyd of Higbee, Jason Boyd (Allison Strickland) of Moberly; two grandchildren, Lexi and Keaton Boyd; one great granddaughter, Ila; mother-in-law, Betty Neighbors; one brother-in-law, Shelby Joe (Cathy); three stepbrothers, Bobby Mosely (Sheila), Billy Mosely (Tammy), Allen Moseley (Mary Ann); two stepsisters, Patricia Lane and Marla Lee (Denzil).
