Juanita Fredalyn Everett, 90, of Colorado City, passed away Thursday, November 4, 2021 in Colorado City.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 pm on Saturday, November 6, 2021 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Graveside services will be at 10:00 am on Monday, November 8th at the Wulfjen-Everett Family Cemetery in Colorado City. Jerry Shields will officiate.
Services are under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home.
Juanita was born in Cisco, Texas on November 2, 1931 to Fred Hood and Ethel Eugenia (St. John) Cook.
She grew up in Putnam, Texas on the same block as her future husband.
She graduated Valedictorian from Putnam High School in 1948 and from Hardin-Simmons in 1952 where she was in the Alpha Ki Honor Society.
At Hardin-Simmons, she was an Officer in the Cowgirl Pep-Squad and was also in the Cowgirl Band, as well as on the staff for the yearbook.
After graduating from college, Juanita married Billy Jim Everett on June 20, 1952.
She taught in various public schools through her career as a teacher. She was "Teacher of the Year" in 1972 for the Irving School System in Irving, Texas. Juanita was an excellent teacher.
Juanita was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Anne Johnson and three grandsons, Justin, Jeremy, and B.J. Everett.
She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Bill Everett; two sons, Mike Everett and Bill Everett; four grandsons, Bo Everett, Sagan Everett, Josh Everett and Coleman Johnson; six great-grandchildren, Tristin, Hannah, Hallie, Ollie, Joshua "Buggy" Everett and Adelena Johnson.
