Jenny L Jones, a native of Hale Center, Texas and long-time resident of Grand Prairie, Texas, passed away on Thursday, November 4, 2021 in Arlington, Texas after a brief hospital stay.
Visitation: 11 to 12 pm Wednesday, November 10, 2021 at Guerrero-Dean Funeral Home. Funeral Services will follow at 12. A private burial will occur at DFW National Cemetery at a later time.
Jenny Lee Uptergrove Jones was born on August 25, 1938, the daughter of the late Mount Vernon Uptergrove and the late Edna Idell Cook Uptergrove. She was the oldest of six daughters in a family of all girls.
She moved to Grand Prairie at an early age, becoming a faithful member of Eighth Street Baptist Church, where her membership remained for more than fifty-five years. She was an avid reader, and the owner of the Bookshelf book store. She enjoyed cruises, sewing, and especially spending time with her grandchildren. Her gentle smile and spirit will be deeply missed.
Survivors: husband of fifty-nine years; James Melton Jones Jr; children, Barbara Jones Barham (Harold), Richard Jones (Katrina); grandchildren, Kristopher Barham, Colt Jones, Kaylie Jones, Kelsie Jones, a sister, Wilma Dickerson as well as a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
