Charles E. James, 84, of Harrisburg, PA, died Thursday, October 21, 2021 at UPMC Community General Osteopathic Hospital, Harrisburg, PA.

Born August 31, 1937 at Altoona, PA, he was a son of the late Charles and Catherine (Hicks) James. He was united in marriage to the former Bernice Kepner on June 7, 1959. Mrs. James survives at their home.

He is also survived by two children, Elaine Lane and husband Scott of Fort Mill, SC and Steven James Kliewer and husband Michael of Harrisburg, PA and one granddaughter, Elizabeth Lane of Columbia, SC. One brother, Clarence James and five sisters, Pauline Goshorn, Dorothy McWhorter, P. Jean Aurant, Lois Booher and Nancy Burkett, preceded in death.

Mr. James was a member of the Park Avenue United Methodist Church, Chambersburg, PA.

He was a past master of Abraham C. Triechler Lodge #682, F. & A. M., Elizabethtown, PA. He was a 1955 graduate of Orbisonia High School.

He retired from First Commonwealth, formerly Unitas Bank, after 30 years service at Huntingdon, PA and Chambersburg, PA.

He was very fond of his son's cat, Gingie.

Mr. James was a veteran of the U. S. Navy, serving from 1955 until 1958.

The family is planning a memorial service to be held at a later date.
