James Allen Haynes
October 8, 1939 ~ November 2, 2021 (age 82)

James Allen Haynes, 82, passed away on Tuesday, November 2, 2021 at his home.

A life that mattered to many thru his work and involvement in the Church of God ministry where he taught Sunday School for 35 years and was a minister of music for many NC churches. Rev. James Allen Haynes passed away at 82 years of age on Tuesday, November 2, 2021 at his residence in Charlotte, NC. He was born in Boone, NC (October 8, 1939) and raised Baptist by his parents. His careers spanned from Sergeant in the United States Army during the Vietnam War (1963-1964) as an Ambulance Driver & Medic in Alaska, to a preacher for the Church of God in Mebane and Red Springs, NC, to a self-employed Piano Tuner and Antique Pump Organ Technician for 50 years.

He is preceded in death by his father Homer Boyd Haynes, of Hickory, NC, his Brother David Haynes, of Hickory, his mother Virginia Ruth Goodman Haynes, of Hickory, and his wife Glenda Mae Helms Haynes, of Charlotte, the love of his life for 56 years.

He has left behind daughters, Angela Haynes Berry (Jeff), Michelle Haynes Sprankle (Randy), Cynthia Haynes and Debbie (Caldwell) Haynes; 2 grandchildren; and 2 brothers. He was a member of the Paw Creek, Ranch Road, Union Road, Central, & South Gastonia Church of God. He was a member of the Statesville and Charlotte Veteran Affairs. His hobbies included deer & grouse hunting, trout fishing, shooting pool, bowling, carpentry, repairing anything broken, watching the Carolina Panthers, watching westerns, watching NASCAR and song writing. He truly loved his family and will be missed by all; especially his "Can I make a suggestion?", followed by the suggestion you would truly find helpful if you only took the time to listen. We will miss his wisdom. James' last sermon he wrote was titled, "His Offering" based on scripture from 1 John 3:1- See what Love the Father has given us, that we should be called to children of God, and so we are.

A graveside service, for Mr. Haynes, will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 7, 2021 at Forest Lawn Cemetery West, Charlotte. Mr. Haynes will lie in repose from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 6, 2021 and again from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Sunday at Woodlawn Funeral Home, Mount Holly.
