Hazel Kaye Dunn, age 84, met Jesus face to face on Tuesday, November 2, 2021. She was born in Grand Rapids to the late John and Juella Steenstra.
She retired after 26 years of service at the Kent County Health Department. She has been a long-time member of Unity Reformed Church where she served as Sunday school teacher, attended Bible studies and made many life-long friends. She lived out her life of faith and anyone who knew her could see Jesus in her. Hazel will be missed for her unconditional love for her family, grandkids and great-grandkids.
She was preceded in death by her parents: John and Juella Steenstra; twin brother, Herman Steenstra; sister, Judy Schalk.
She will be lovingly remembered by her daughters: Deb (John) Laninga, Linda (Dave) Van Zoest, Lori (Dave) Verbrugge; grandchildren: Mike, Jason (Megan), Matt, Ben (Emily), Brad (Danielle), Katie (Brent), Melissa (Corey); great-grandchildren: Callie, Caelyn, Liam, Jolie, Brynn, Cara. Hazel is also survived by her siblings: Marilyn (Bob) Ebels, Rog (Jan) Steenstra, Ellen (John) Vonk, Dave (Linda) Steenstra; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service for Hazel will be held at 11 am on Monday, November 8 at Unity Reformed Church, 4450 Poinsettia SE, Kentwood, with Rev. Mark Bergsma officiating. Interment will take place at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Relatives and friends may meet the family Sunday from 2-5 pm at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 4646 Kalamazoo Ave. SE, Kentwood and from 10-11 am on Monday at the church prior to the service.
