David "Dave" Cook born July 1974

On November 1, 2021 heaven gained an angel. David "Dave" Cook was a loving father, husband, son, brother, uncle, and faithful servant. Dave was preceded in death by grandparents Floyd and Virginia Carpenter, Francis and Helen Cook, and father-in-law Thomas Baar. He is survived by wife Sara, daughters Samantha and Olivia, parents William and Tanya Cook, brother Scott (Kendra) Cook, in-laws Jan (Tom) Czerney, sister and brother-in-law Lesa (Kevin) Brown, and nieces and nephews Makayla (Carter), Finn, and Ian Cook, Alyssa and Aidan Brown. He is also survived by several loving aunts, uncles, & cousins.

Dave graduated from Grandville High School and earned his associates degree from Grand Rapids Community College. He graduated from the Police Academy at Grand Rapids Community College in 1995. Soon after, he began his service to the public as a police officer. He served the communities of South Haven, Hopkins, and Portland prior to his 21 years as a Kent County Sheriff's Deputy. In his free time he enjoyed reading, watching football, playing games with his kids, watching movies with his dad, and playing poker with his friends.

His daughters, Sam and Liv, were the absolute light of his life. He was always their biggest fan. They will always cherish the many books he read to them, the games played with them, donuts on his Sundays off, and McDonald's cookies. The family will receive family and friends at Pederson Funeral Home, 127 N. Monroe Street, on Thursday, November 4, 2021 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 6:00 to 8:00 PM. A funeral service will be held at City Church Rockford, 3233 10 Mile Road NE, Rockford on Friday, November 5, 2021 at 12:00 noon.
