Funeral Services for Joseph H. Craig
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 3:00 o'clock in the tabernacle for Joseph H. Craig, who died Thursday January 7, of Infirmities due to old age, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Hyrum Davis.
The exercises were conducted by Elder Arthur McAlliter. Music was furnished by the Joint ward choirs, under the direction of Professor G. M. Webb.
Choir sang. "0 My Father."
Prayer was offered by Elder James P. Camoron.
Choir sang, "I Know That My Redeemer Lives."
The speakers were James B. Heywood, Fred G. Gardiner and Hans P. Ipson. All spoke of the esteem in which the deceased and his family were held.
Special numbers, "Face to Face," sung by Miss Dean Haycock.
And "One Sweetly Solema Thought, was sung by Miss Iletta Dowdell.
Choir sang, "I Need Thee Every Hour."
Benediction was pronounced by Elder S. A. Worthen.
A long line of autos filled with relatives and sympathizing friends followed the body to the city cemetery.
The grave was dedicated by Elder Rudolph Church.
Joseph H., son of James and Margaret Craig, was born at Mill Creek, Salt Lake county, Utah, March 24, 1853. as a child he moved with his parents to the Utah Dixie, where his mother died when he was but seven years old. At the resettlement of Panguitch he and some of the family came here. It was here that he met and married Miss Lisana Judd. The wedding taking place on February 15, 1875. Bishop George W. Sevy performed the ceremony.
Later the family moved to Pima, Arizona, where they lived for a number of years, where he was deputy sheriff for two terms, and was a Sunday School worker for fifteen years. They returned to Panguitch, and after a few years stay they moved to Thatcher, Arizona. They then returned to Pangitch and from here they went to Burley Idaho where though financial reverses they were left stranded, and he returned to Panguitch where he made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Hyrum Davis until his death.
He Is survived by his widow, Mrs. Lisana Craig, and the following children; Mrs. Hyrum Davis, Albert F. Craig, of Panguitch; Lafette Craig, Idaho; Sylvester Craig. Arizona; Mrs. Maggie Boyd, California; Mrs. Roxy McEtte, Oregon; and Mrs. Opal Journey of Payette, Idaho and a host of friends who mourn his demise.
