Born April 17, 1933 in Laurel Run, she was a daughter of the late Lester and Marion Williams Orner. She was one of 10 children.
She was a member of Laurel Run United Methodist Church, where she was active in many church functions.
She was a 1951 graduate of Lock Haven High School and a 1971 graduate of Centre County Vo-Tech in the LPN course.
After graduation, she worked for Jersey Shore Hospital in various positions, retiring in 1986. She then dedicated her life to her loving husband, Sandy Shaffer, whom she married Feb. 18, 1978, and her children, grandchildren and friends.
She loved baking goodies and sharing them with everyone she knew. She also enjoyed working out and socializing at the YMCA.
She is survived by her husband, Sandy Shaffer, at home; her daughters, Karen and John Myers of Newtown, Becky and Gerry Grant of Weanre, N.H., and Melinda and Scott Laubscher-Anderson of Portland, Ore.; step-children, Sandy and Richard Barner of Towanda, Linda and Doc Mincer of Watertown, N.Y., Bob and Deb Shaffer of Waynesboro and Tim Shaffer of California; a brother, Kent and Donna Orner of Florida; grandchildren, Amy Barner, Robin Miller, Holly Morse, Nancy Nesbit, Daniel McLallen, currently stationed in Iraq, Michael McLallen, Taylor Grant, Cherene Farmer, Jaret Grant, Erin Williams, Daniel Mincer, Marc Mincer, Greg Mincer, Cully Shaffer, Andrea Shaffer, Robbie Shaffer and Bill Shaffer; and 15 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by numerous friends who touched her life, especially her special one, Patty Mantle.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Jimmy Laubscher, and eight siblings.
Friends will be received at the Dean K. Wetzler Jr. Funeral Home, 320 Main St., Mill Hall, on Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2007 from 6 to 8 p.m. Services will be at the funeral home Thursday, Dec. 13, 2007 at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Bruce Wallace officiating. Interment will be in Rest Haven Memorial park.
