Willie Edward "Son" Thompson, passed away, September 28, 2020. He was born on April 4, 1942 in Eden, NC to Edward and Inez Thompson. He was a graduate of Douglass High School. He enlisted in the United States Army upon graduation and served during the Vietnam era. He received a Good Conduct Medal and Marksman Badge. He retired from Unifi. He was a member of Robinson Memorial United Holiness Church. He also served the community during the many years he worked at Galloway Funeral Home. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Valencia Cohen; great-grandson, Jamari Wilson; sisters, Annette Thompson and Julia Ann Galloway; brother, Elder Carl Thompson. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Lelia Thompson; daughters, Patricia Parris, Sharon Tinsley and Yolanda Thompson; son, Damiano Brooks (Lorraine); sisters, Min. Edna Earl Broadnax, Martha Jane Martin (Jessie), Elizabeth Thompson and Diane Darby; brothers, Kenan Thompson (Novella) and James Thompson (Sandra); 11 grandchildren; a host of other relatives.
Burial will be in Hamlin Cemetery, Eden.
