Obituary for Joan Elaine Thomas
Funeral services for Joan Elaine Thomas will be held Friday, November 5, 2021 at 2:00 PM at the Skyview Baptist Church of Okemah, Oklahoma. Interment will follow at the Highland Cemetery in Okemah.

Joan Elaine Thomas was born August 22, 1951 in Stratford, Oklahoma to William Henry Strawn and Frances Lavern (Willoughby) Strawn. She passed away Tuesday, November 2, 2021 at her home in Okemah at the age of 70.

Joan was a lifelong resident of the Okemah area and a 1969 graduate of Okemah High School. She and Gary Wayne Thomas were married October 2, 1969 in Okemah. Joan worked for over 20 years at the Okemah Insurance and Real Estate Company and later with the Okemah National Bank and Bancfirst before her retirement. She enjoyed antiques, crafts, deer hunting and especially loved spending time with her grandkids and great-grandkids. She also attended the Skyview Baptist Church of Okemah.

She is preceded in death by her parents and twin sister, Joyce Thomas.

Survivors include her husband, Gary "Red" Thomas of the home; her son, Terry Thomas of Okemah; one brother, Ted Strawn and wife Scarlett of Okemah; one sister, Kathy Painter of Okemah, three grandchildren, Tyler Thomas and wife Rachel of Prague, Cassidy "Cassie" Osborn and husband Quinton Blain of Shawnee and Seth Thomas of Okemah and great-grandchildren, Vivian and Kolar Thomas, Eli, Foster, Halle and Brigham Osborn and Kaya, Stone and Liam Thomas and awaiting Leah Osborn in December.

Pallbearers will be, Clint Painter, Quinton Blain Osborn, Earl Strawn, Mike Yocham, Jimmy Woods and Justin Thomas.

Honorary bearers include Lloyd Pickering, Eugene Cheatwood, Wayne Willoughby, Sam Thomas and Frank Thomas.

Services will be under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Okemah, Oklahoma and officiated by Rev. David Hamilton.
