Jack Leroy Helms, 71, of Milan, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at his home. Jack was born on July 30, 1950 to Don and Juanita (Rodgers) Helms.

Jack lived most of his life in the Milan area. He attended Mt. Vernon Country School until the third grade and then Milan C-2 High School where he graduated in 1968. On July 18, 1970, he married Kathy (Frazier) Helms. After high school, Jack enlisted in the United States Army and was a member of the 82nd Airborne during Vietnam. Later Jack went to work for the Sante Fe and Burlington Railroad companies for many years. He later joined the National Guard, serving for 4 years before retiring. In retirement Jack enjoyed rocks, being outdoors, especially fishing for Channel Cat. He also liked to garden and cook. Jack was a fan of fast cars and motorcycles. He was not a fan of large crowds but very attentive and was always there if anyone needed him.

Jack is survived by his wife Kathy of the home, daughter Kelly (Gene) Fanning of Milan, two brothers; James "Crow" (Tammy) Helms of Milan and Jerry Helms of Milan, sister; Donna (Ed) Yardley of Milan, nieces; Jamie, Tracie, Valerie, Marci, Rachel, Holly, and Lisa, nephews; Jeff and Rory, and numerous great nieces and nephews, uncle; James (Joanne) Rodgers of Milan, aunt; Kay Helms of Illinois, brother in laws; Terry (Sharon)Frazier of Osborne, MO and Chuck (Kathy) Frazier of Elgin, Ill. Jack was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son, Mother-in-law Mary Ruth (Eldon) Head, Father-in-law Charles Frazier, nephew Ed Yardley and numerous uncles and aunts.

Services for Jack will be held at 3:00PM on Sunday, October 17, 2021 at Schoene-Ruschmeier Funeral Home, in Milan, Missouri. A visitation will be held from 2:00 PM until the start of the service. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Milan.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Oakwood Cemetery.
