Debra Ann Holloway Burton, 64, of Sunflower, passed away peacefully Sunday, October 31, 2021, surrounded by her loving family at South Sunflower County Hospital in Indianola.
Debra was born March 22, 1957, in Marks, to Clark and Elsie Haley Holloway. She was raised in Quitman County. Debra married James "Bubba" Burton in 1971. They lived most of their life in Sunflower. She worked for Indianola Floral Designs, Playcare, Indianola Academy, and Planters Bank before she and Bubba started JJSJ Farms with their sons in 2005. Debra loved nothing more than working with her family every day. She was very outdoorsy and loved planting flowers and working in her yard. She especially loved time spent with Bubba fishing at their cabin in Enid, traveling, sightseeing, eating out, and shopping. She was a devoted member of Sunflower Baptist Church where she served as church treasurer for many years. Debra loved her family, especially her children and grandchildren. She always greeted everyone with a smile and would do anything for anyone.
Debra was preceded in death by her father, Clark Holloway.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 50 years, James "Bubba" Burton of Sunflower; her mother, Elsie Holloway of Indianola; two sons, Jamie (Heather) Burton of Indianola and Stacy (Rebekah) Burton of Indianola; two brothers, Anthony (Charlotte) Holloway of Shelby, Iowa and Jerry (Faye) Holloway of Sunflower; two sisters, Florance White of Lumberton, Texas and Patsy (Frank) Williams of Indianola; four granddaughters, Madison, Mary Margaret, Amelia, and Audrey; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family will receive friends Thursday, November 4, 2021, from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm at Sunflower Baptist Church, Sunflower Avenue, Sunflower, MS. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 pm with Rev. Trey Pearce and Rev. Elbert McKnight officiating. Burial will follow in Indianola City Cemetery. Burton Funeral Home of Indianola has been entrusted with arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
