I.V. Hood Abbott, 99, passed away at Baptist Nursing Home in Calhoun City on Sunday, March 8, 2020. Born June 1, 1920, in Calhoun County, she was the daughter of the late Elisha Bunyan Hood and the late Minnie Lee Shaw Hood. She was a member of Central Baptist Church in Grenada. In 1937, she married Woodrow W. Abbott. She was retired from Kellwood where she worked for over 20 years as an inspector and a seamstress. She loved quilting and gardening. Most of all, she enjoyed reading the Bible, and studying God's Word. She was blessed with a large family, and loved them all very much. They know she is now rejoicing in her Heavenly home.

Pryor Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Abbott family.

A funeral service celebrating her life will be held Tuesday, March 10, 2020, at 2:00pm at Pryor Funeral Home. There will also be a visitation on Tuesday from 12:00pm until service time at the funeral home. Bro. Bill Lee and Bro. Marlon Long will be officiating.
Interment will follow at Bethlehem Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Don Williams, Travis Williams, Brad Easley, Sam Blakeney, Larry Abbott, and Steve Montgomery.

Honorary Pallbearer will be Zach Pettit.

She leaves behind her son, Neddie Joe (Jean) Abbott of Ackerman; daughters, Mavis (Durel) Gaskin of Calhoun City, and Dorothy Jean "Dot" (Jim) Milford of Millington, TN; brother, O.B. Hood of Ackerman; grandchildren, Don (Sara) Williams, Tonia (Brad) Easley, Bonita (Mickey) Prosser, Sabrina (Steve) Montgomery, and Lisa Pettit; great-grandchildren, John Prosser, Bethany Prosser, Grace Williams, Travis Williams, Jake Williams, Makenzie (Sam) Blakeney, Zach Pettit, Ben Montgomery, Laci Montgomery, Chandler Easley, and Madison Easley; and great-great grandchildren, Holly Prosser and Blayre Blakeney.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Woodrow Abbott; daughter, Bonnie Williams; sister, Clara Holloway; brothers, Otis Hood, Rexie Hood, J.C. Hood, and O.B. Hood; and great-grandson, Joshua Prosser,
