Sandra Lee Hughes, 77, of Chattanooga passed away Friday, October 29, 2021 in a local hospital.

She was retired from the U.S. Army as a Master Sergeant working in the Signal Corps and was a member of New Salem Baptist Church. She enjoyed flowers and working with the local Veterans Women's Association. She was an inspiration and blessing to many others locally and at New Salem Baptist Church..

She was preceded in death by her parents, William Clarence Sweeting and Edith Caruthers Sweeting and sister, Sheila Sweeting Parker.

Survivors include her husband of 35 years, Thomas O. Hughes, sons, Thomas Q. Hughes and Joshua B. (Kindle) Hughes, grandchildren, Preslee and Pierson, niece, Christina Parker (Richard) Brown and nephew, Harry A. V. Parker, IV, great nieces whom she dearly loved, Jessica Leigh Mason, Abigail P. Brown and Gabrielle E. Brown and several extended family and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 5, 2021 at 12:00 p.m. at the New Salem Baptist Church with the Rev. Alan Rogers officiating. Interment will follow at Chattanooga National Cemetery with Military Honors.

The family will receive friends on Friday, November 5, 2021 from 11 a.m. until 12 p.m. at the New Salem Baptist Church.
