Theresa Thomas, age 67, passed away Sunday in the presence of loved ones, after a hard fought battle with cancer.

Theresa was born March 16, 1954, in Sioux City, Iowa to James Nelson Lusk and Betty Jo Ferguson. She grew up traveling the country and Europe with her Air Force service father, mother and younger brother, James Lusk Jr.

After her family settled in Chattanooga, she graduated from Central High School in 1972 and went on to attend the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. She retired as a business manager for Tennessee Oncology in October of 2017, after having held several business management roles previously. Theresa and her husband Roger were partners in crime, having celebrated their 46th wedding anniversary on June 7, 2021.

Theresa was a loving wife, mother, Nana, sister, aunt and friend to all who knew her. Early in their marriage, Theresa and Roger worked very hard to ensure that their family would have a great future. A caregiver by nature, she helped care for both her mother and father as the time arose, and then continued that caregiving by watching Abigail and Charlie while their parents were at work. Best friends, Abigail and Nana would go on imaginative adventures which they were happy to invite Charlie to once he came along. She lived a life that exuded the love exemplary of Christ and pointed people to God by her thoughts, actions and prayers.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James Nelson and Betty Jo Lusk.

She is survived by her loving husband, Roger Thomas; son, Seth (Jennifer) Thomas; grandkids, Abigail and Charlie; brother, James (Melody) Lusk Jr.; nephews, James Lusk, and Brian (Victoria) Lusk; in laws, Kenneth and Nancy Thomas, Pete and Sharon Pedigo; nieces and nephews; Will (Amanda) Thomas, Brenda and Chris Triplett, Amy Pedigo; and great nieces, Rose Lusk, Caroline and Vannie Thomas.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Gail and Will Moore and Hearth Hospice who helped provide such comfort and care through Theresa's final moments of life in addition to the amazing doctors, nurses and staff at Tennessee Oncology who were with Theresa during her entire battle.

A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Friday, November 5 in the funeral home chapel with Fred Smith Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Chattanooga National Cemetery.
