Mr. Barkley was born to Nannie Covington and Ernest Barkley, Sr.. He married Ellen Kyle Donalson June 10, 1939, in Kyle, Texas. Mr. Barkley was a farmer in the Bishop, Texas area, co-owned Barkley & West Elevators, owned an integrated broiler operation including Barkley Poultry Processing Plant, and, built and was president of Bishop Elevator. He is survived by his daughters, Anne Kyle Barkley Manning and husband Baines of Houston; Nan Barkley Boettcher and husband Schlick of Austin; grandchildren Leslie Manning Francis and husband Dick of Houston; John Manning and wife Nicole of Houston; Lynn Boettcher Schaezler and husband Brian of St. Louis, Missouri; Laura Boettcher Bennett and husband Kyndel of Austin; great-grandchildren Richard III, Jennifer Anne, and Jordan Kyle Francis of Houston; Barkley Baines and Claire Anne Manning of Houston; Keith Preston and Ellen Frances Schaezler of St. Louis, Missouri; Barkley Claire and Johnny Gaines Bennett of Austin.
