Joseph J. Perez
February 5, 1934 - October 29, 2021
Cornwall, NY

Joseph J. Perez passed into eternal rest on October 29, 2021 at Montefiore St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital. Joe was born in Newark NJ to the late Evelyn Lane and Joseph Perez.

Joe spent his early years in Newark NJ until his family moved to The Mines in Fort Montgomery, NY and then to Highland Falls, NY where he spent the rest of his youth making lifelong friends. Joe graduated from Highland Falls High School where he enjoyed all sports. Joe's love of roller skating gave him many nights of pleasure at the Avalon rink in Newburgh, NY and the Angola rink in Cornwall, NY. He was an avid bowler and he enjoyed fishing and hunting and was a lifelong member of Black Rock Fish and Game Club. When Joe's family moved to Cornwall, Joe was soon inducted in to the army where he Honorably served his country in the Korean War. Returning home to Cornwall, Joe met and fell in love and married the great love of his life Constance (Connie) Baird with whom he spent 58 years loving and being loved.

Joe worked for 46 years at West Point at The Department of Engineering and Housing where he began as a helper and worked up to the highest position as Supervisor of both Plumbing and Heating Departments earning many high honors and making many lasting friendships and much respect.

Along with his wife Connie Joe is survived by his two children, a daughter Laurie and a son Joseph, both of Cornwall, NY; two very special grandsons Mark and Bryan of Cornwall, NY; brother-in-law Jack Baird and his wife Georgia; several special cousins including his favorite veteran, many nieces and nephews, as well as his very special friend Dick Monroe to rejoice in his memory. In addition to his parents Joe was predeceased by his sister Catherine Brown, niece Robin Ramsden, sister-in-law Lauraine Hollenbeck and brother-in-law Larry Hollenbeck.

Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday, November 3 at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh, A service will be held at 11 am on Thursday at the funeral home, with burial following in Woodlawn Cemetery, New Windsor.
