Janet Marie Young, 59, of Centralia, passed away Wednesday, October 27, 2021, at Aperion Care in Fairfield, Illinois.
She was born September 8, 1962, in Centralia, the daughter of Orlando "Bud" Young and Barbara Jean (Gant) Young.
Janet is the seventh of ten children from the parents of Orlando and Barbara Young, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Dwight "Buzzie" Young, and sister, Gwendolyn Jackson.
She is survived by her son Jai Young of Centralia and siblings: Clifford Young of California, Richard Young and wife Nadine of California, Donald Young of Centralia, Terri Young of Centralia, Valarie Mack of Centralia, David Young and wife Lorine of Texas, and Cheryl Young of Centralia; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Janet was a strong Christian woman who loved God, family, and working with children. She was always willing to help her family by babysitting her nieces and nephews. During family gathers, you would find her making time to play games, draw pictures, and sing songs with the kids. She would send cards for birthdays and holidays filled with encouraging words and would always end them by saying "God Loves You and So do I." Janet was a Centralia High School Graduate Class of 1980. Her work history included the Leaf Candy Factory and Mary's House.
A Celebration of Life Service for Janet Young will be held Saturday, November 13, 2021, at 12:00 PM at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home in Centralia with Pastor Carolyn Wells officiating. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Centralia. Visitation will be held Saturday, November 13, 2021, from 11:00 AM until the time of service at the funeral home.
