Shortly after high school James ran a detasseling crew for ACCO Seed Corn Co. That's where he met Mary Colleen Sheehan. They married on June 21, 1952 They were married 69 years and 4months.
James is survived by their Three children and their spouses:
son Dennis (Trish) Wade of Omaha NE Daughters Joyce (John) Smith of Omaha NE and Barbara (Brett) DeHaven of Lincoln NE
Thirteen Grandchildren, Nineteen Great Grandchildren and One Great Grandchild
His only surviving sibling Warren (Diana) Wade numerous nieces, nephews and friends
James worked most of his life at Ash Grove Cement Plant in Louisville He retired on Feb 8, 1994.
He made many friends while he was at Ash Grove. Over the years James enjoyed woodworking, gardening, ca,ping and traveling with Mary. He took care of and loved his large family his whole life including the day proceeding his death.
James was a member of American Legion Post #237and V.F.W. He was a former volunteer on the Weeping Water Fire Department. Volunteering at Thornhaven was a favorite activity. James passed peacefully at his home surrounded by his family and caregivers on January 25, 2022.
