Richard C. Snyder, 84, of Danville PA passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, October 31, 2021, at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville PA. He was born on June 4, 1937, in Danville PA, the son of the late David W. and A. Rebecca Clark Snyder.

He graduated from Danville Area High School, Class of 1955.

Richard served his country with honor in the United States Navy earning a place of legacy among the exclusive Tin Can Sailors of the Navy's Destroyer group and even serving time on the legendary battleship USS Iowa.

Richard was preceded in death by his devoted wife of 59 years, Pauline E. Drumm Snyder on December 18, 2016. They were married June 15, 1957.

He was employed as a heavy equipment operator for PP&L in Washingtonville PA for many years from, where he retired. In addition, he was a part-time school bus driver and a rural route mail carrier. He also served as a Valley Township Auditor for many years

Richard was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church Columbia Hill in Danville PA where he served on the Church Council.

He enjoyed his daily morning coffee at McDonald's, watching football, restoring Wheel Horse tractors, loved going to the casino and thoroughly enjoyed traveling. He was deeply devoted to his family and his church. Richard will be remembered for his generous heart and kind spirit, and was a blessing to all who knew him, He was always willing to lend a helping hand.

He is survived by two daughters, Patti Frable and her husband Jeffrey of Effort PA and Wendy Rehm and her husband John, Sr. of Turbotville. Also surviving are his three grandchildren: Heather, Katie, and John, Jr and one great-granddaughter, Ella Rose. Richard was preceded in death by his loving son, Gary R. Snyder and two brothers: William Snyder and David Snyder.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Richard's life to be held Monday, November 8,2021 at 11:00 AM at St. Peter's Lutheran Church 726 Columbia Hill Road Danville, PA with Pastor Joshua Reinsburrow officiating. Friends will be received from 10:00 AM until 10:45 AM. Burial will follow in Columbia Hill Cemetery Danville PA.

The family will provide flowers. Memorial contributions may be made in Richard's memory to American Legion Post 40 Honor Guard c/o David Callahan 53 Mooresburg Road Danville PA 17821.
