Larry Allen Brewer, age 81 and a lifelong resident of Elwood, passed away on Saturday, October 30, 2021 surrounded by his family at home following several health complications. He was born March 12, 1940 in Elwood, the son of Ralph Perry "Buck" and Gertrude (Hunter) Brewer. Larry graduated in 1958 from Wendell L. Willkie High School in Elwood, then immediately enlisted to serve his country in the U.S. Army. He was a Specialist 4 in the Second and Third Armored divisions stationed in Germany. Larry married G. Ann Orbaugh on June 6, 1964, and they shared 57 years of marriage together. Following his military service, Larry worked for 19 years in sales at Bourff Furniture Store in Elwood and later as a manager at Good Old Parts Co. in Douglasville, Georgia. He returned to Elwood to work at Kutche Chevrolet and later retired from Dan Young in Tipton after 16 years in the parts department and sales. Later in life, he also managed the Elwood Airport with his wife and sister-in-law.

Larry was a member of the Elwood Elks Lodge #368; the Quincy Masonic Lodge #230; Scottish Rite; and Murat Shrine. He was also a member of the National Street Rod Association, the Elwood V.F.W. #5782, and the Midwest Tool Collectors. Larry enjoyed working on home remodeling projects and building street rods. He found antique wooden planes and World War II memorabilia very interesting. He enjoyed many memorable trips to Wyoming and the Indy 500 with his friends for many years. Larry and Ann cherished the time they spent at Lake Wawasee in the summer and Bradenton, Florida in the winters. Larry will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Larry's family legacy includes his wife, G. Ann Brewer of Elwood; two daughters, Laurie Stoops of Tipton and Gail (Scott) Cochran of Monroe, GA; 5 grandchildren, Hannah Cochran, Annie (Logan) Cox, Riley Cochran, Craig Dalzell, and Rob (Natasha) Cochran; great-grandchild, Landry Cox; half-sister, Kathy (Holly) Jones of Indianapolis; nephew and nieces, Branden New, Kim Copeland, and Rusta (Chance) Weaver; sister-in-law, Donna Ewing; and special caregiver, Becky Holman of Elwood. Larry was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Janice (and husband Willie) New; and a nephew, Doug Hudson.

Services will be private and will take place at the Elwood City Cemetery at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood.
