Raymond V. Thoreson, 66, 1156 Carroll Ave., died Friday, Dec. 27, 1991, at a Sioux City hospital after a brief illness. Services will be 1 p.m. Monday at St. John Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Krishen Persaud of Our Savior's Evangelical Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 3-9 p.m. today, with the family present 6:30-7:30 p.m. and a 7 p.m. prayer service, at the Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel. Mr. Thoreson was born March 22, 1925, near Soldier, Iowa. He attended country school near Soldier and graduated from Moorhead High School. He married Maxine Longlee March 26, 1949, in Soldier. He had been a Sioux City area resident since 1956. He was a farmer and worked for Purolator Courier Service as a driver and supervisor, retiring in 1988. He was an active, longtime member of St. John Lutheran Church. Survivors include his wife; two daughters and their husbands, Deborah and David Speidel of Norfolk, Neb., and Lynne and Phillip McBride of Sioux City; a brother, Robert of Soldier; three grandchildren (redacted). He was preceded in death by three brothers, Howard, Clayton and Glen, and three sisters, Edith Thoreson, Edna Mahnke and Margaret Musfeldt.
