Brian met his future wife, Susan Laurence Huening, at a sorority mixer at Cornell University where she was a student. They were married in Schenectady, New York in 1970 and spent the next 51 years raising a family that was a source of great joy in their lives. Brian became a Captain in the Army and served abroad in Germany as well as in the US. After leaving the military, Brian went on to a career in the field of financial services. In his retirement, Brian was an avid reader and took great pleasure in his wife's cooking, their weekly lunch outings, and spending time with his beloved grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Susan, his three children, Kiersten Ellis (husband Andrew Ellis) of Portland, Maine, Janice Locke (partner Melissa Fortin) of Lewiston, Maine, and Andrew Locke of Andover, Massachusetts, grandchildren Maggie and Charlie Ellis, Corinne and Natalie Rosario, and Brendan and Kiera Locke. In addition, he leaves his siblings Elizabeth Locke of South Portland, Maine, Marion (Locke) Turner of Gorham, Maine, Edward Locke of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, Gerard Locke of Troy, Maine and Martha Locke of Boston, Massachusetts, as well as many nieces and nephews whom he loved very much.
Visitation will be held from 2-3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 6 at Hobbs Funeral Home, 230 Cottage Rd., South Portland, followed by a funeral service.
