Husband of Mary Frances Brooks/McDuffie.

"Dan A. McDuffie - Abt 50. Died May 9 [1879] in Athens Ga. suddenly of a heart attack while attending to some contract work there. He came to Atlanta long before the war and for years he had carried on a business as plasterer and contractor. When the war broke out he enlisted in Co. K of the first Georgia regulars and served with that command until the end of the war. He served 2 terms as a member of the Atlanta City Council. During one term he was chairman of the relief committee and during the other was chairman of the street committee. He was also chairman of the committee that planned and built the present handsome Broad Street bridge over the RR [railroad]. Brought to Atlanta for interment."
