Barbara Beth Barringer Myers, age 96, of Lenoir passed away Friday, October 22, 2021 at her residence. She was born January 23, 1925 in Catawba County to the late Emmett Edgar and Daisy Hughey Barringer. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Granville G. Myers; two brothers, Jack Dale Barringer and Joseph Hughey Barringer; and an infant sister, Julia Ann Barringer.
Mrs. Myers graduated from Lenoir High School and Cecil's Business College in Asheville, NC. She retired after 30 years as office manager of Barringer Oil Company, 20 years as office manager of Kent Travel Agency, and was a member of Lenoir Presbyterian Church.
In her youth she was an award winning tap dancer and had a weekly radio program of popular songs of the time. She dearly loved to travel and had visited may parts of the world.
Survivors include one son, Granville Guy Myers, II and wife Patty of Lenoir; one daughter, Janet Myers Ferguson of Lenoir; one brother, James Emmett Barringer and wife Noby of Sutter, CA; three grandchildren, Granville Scott Crawford and wife Mandy of Chicago, IL, Granville Guy Myers, III and wife Angie of Hudson, NC, and Andrea Elizabeth Myers of Hudson, NC; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Monday, October 25, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. at Lenoir Presbyterian Church conducted by Rev. Robert Hinman. Interment will be private.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church.
