Unsinkable Mollie Brown
My tri-color beagle
Loves lying in the sun
That comes in through winter windows
My little Miss Mischief
Astute trashcan tipper
She's got her man doing the same
She gives daytime notice
For three-hour bladder
But pees in the house in the night
Her belly alarm rings
Precisely for dinner
She nags me until it is served
With her nose to the ground
She snorts like a piglet
She sniffs through the yard for new scents
She'll run joyfully off
To scare up the bunnies
Who live near the creek 'cross the road
She knows nothing of cars
Or sense of direction
She can't seem to sniff her way home
But, oh, how I love her
My little Miss Mischief
Unsinkable, still, Mollie Brown
