Janet Lou (Gibson) Gilbert Stedcke passed peacefully from this life and entered the arms of her savior on Friday, October 29, 2021 at 12:01 p.m. with her daughter by her side.

She was born on January 27, 1934 to Bruce and Farol Gibson.

On September 15, 1952, Janet married Richard Gilbert and three children were born to this union. Thirteen years after his death, she married Richard Stedcke.

Janet was a stay at home mom after her last child was born. Her children always appreciated that their father worked so hard so she was able to do so. After Richard's passing, Janet worked at Elder Beerman for several years in the Bridal Department and then as Manager of the China Department.

Janet deeply loved her family and friends. She had an unwavering faith and shared it with all who knew her. She led many people to know, develop, and grow in their relationships with the Lord. She continued to mentor many people, both young and old, right to the end.

She could spend hours in a greeting card store selecting the very best to send. She was proud to minister and serve by sending cards with notes of encouragement or congratulations. Janet also enjoyed working with both indoor and outdoor plants and flowers.

Survivors include one son Richard (Lois) Gilbert and one daughter Lisa (Greg) Ciminillo, 4 grandchildren Jeffrey Gilbert, Jr., Jennifer Jeffers, Monica Green, and Amber Green, and 3 great grandchildren Hayley Jerwers, Tony Jeffers, and Reagan Jeffers.

Her husband's Richard Gilbert and Richard Stedcke, son Jeffrey Gilbert, Sr., great granddaughter Jazlynn Gray, and siblings, Robert Gibson, Harry Gibson, Darryl Gibson, Helen Golden, and Jeane Crites preceded her in death. Janet was the last remaining sibling and a favorite Aunt to many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will take place from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL on Wednesday November 3, 2021.

Janet's celebration of life will be held at Shawnee Alliance Church, 4455 Shawnee Road, on Thursday November 4, 2021. Pastors Kris Browning and Daniel Messner will officiate.

Graveside service and interment at Memorial Park Cemetery will follow.
