G. Philip Cherrington Services Held
Funeral services were held Monday for George Phillip Cherrington, 68 who died after a long illness Thursday at 1:00 a.m. at his home.
Services, in the South Ward Chapel, with Bishop Jay A. Riggs presiding and W. Matt Houston conducting were:
Prayer at home, Bishop Jay A. Riggs; Prelude and Postlude, Grace Masterson and Thora Foy; song "My Heavenly Father Knows", Choir; Invocation, Lynn Dickinson; Remarks from Bishopric, Matt Houston; song, "The Lord's Prayer", Kathleen Church; Talk, William G. Bruhn; song, "In The Garden", Bell Cooper; Talk, Reed Henderson; song, "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere", Grace Masterson; Talk, A.L. Elmer; song, "I Know That My Redeemer Lives", choir, solo by Don Flora; Benediction, Leo Crofts. The grave was dedicated by Rudolph Church. Burial was in the Panguitch Cemetery under the direction of Neal S. Magleby Mortuary.
Mr. Cherrington was born Sept. 12, 1889 in Holden to William and Anna Harmon Cherrington. He Married Edith Dewitt in Junction; she died in 1941. He married Mary Davis in Panguitch July 1945.
A carpenter, he worked for Utah Copper Co. near the town of Garfield, then in the Alunite mill in Marysvale, also in Magna and Pasadena, Calif., before making his home in Panguitch.
Survivors include his widow: son, 2 daughters; Dee, Redding, Calif.; Mrs. E.D. (Jean) Schenk, Pasadena; Mrs. Eddie (Coral) Nilsson, Altadena, California; stepson, DeWitt Heywood, Magna; stepdaughter, Mrs. Phillip (Mary Zane) Bechthold; Kearns; 17 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren; 3 brothers 3 sisters; A.R. and Jesse Cherrington, of Panguitch, Kenneth, Ogden; Mrs. Dell (Myra) Miller, Panguitch; Mrs. Alice Sedgwick, Bountiful; Mrs. Luella Wood, Brisbane, Calif.
