Dorothy was born in Greensboro on September 23, 1917, the daughter of the late Charles Alexander Sheppard and Carrie Francis Brown.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Floyd Baxter Davis; second husband, Cecil C. Brewer; two daughters, Carolyn Gillie Brewer and Cheryl Ann Davis; brothers, Gaston, Waldo, Randall, and David Sheppard; and her sisters, Virginia Cranford, Pauline Murchison, and Rebecca Yow.
A devoted mother, she is survived by her daughters, Patricia Davis Garmon (Jerry) and Linda Davis Southard; five grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.
Dorothy graduated from Bessemer High School and attended Greensboro Business College. She worked for Cone Mills Revolution Plant as an inspector for thirty years.
She was a member of Newlyn Street United Methodist Church. Dot was loved by family and friends for her ceaseless energy, love of life, and talent for making and giving lovingly crafted gifts.
The funeral was at Pierce-Jefferson Lambeth Chapel on Monday, November 1, 2021. Visitation was held from 11:00AM to 12:00PM. Service began at 12:00PM, officiated by Rev. Dr. Charles Howell and Pastor Kelly Crissman, with the burial at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
