She is survived by her son, William Stewart of Forest City wife Alisha of Franklin, NC three grandchildren, Alex, Abby, and Eli. Two brothers in law, Larry Stewart, wife Joyce of Charlotte, Garry Stewart wife Teresa of McDonough, GA, four nieces and one nephew.
Born in Rutherford County, NC on March 6, 1942, Mrs. Stewart was the daughter of the late Russell Roy and Blear Willis York. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 54+ years Harold Nathan Stewart; one son Harold Brian Stewart; one daughter Lisa Renee Stewart; and one sister Jerri Fite.
Brenda loved cooking, sewing, plants, and small dogs. She enjoyed trips to the beach and business convention travel trips with her husband. Brenda was born and raised in the Mt. Vernon Community of Rutherford County. She was a member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church in Forest City and enjoyed watching sports on television. Brenda was in the last graduating class of Mt. Vernon High School class of 1961. She graduated from a Business College in Shelby. Brenda worked as a Purchasing Agent for Harrill Chemical Company of Shelby before retiring. Between the years of 1964 through the early 2002, the Stewart family lived in Shelby. During that time, she was a member of Second Baptist Church and Calvary Baptist Church. Brenda was a twenty-five plus year breast cancer survivor.
