Notice of Pilot's Death

HARRISONBURG, Feb. 7 - (AP) - Confirmation of the death of Captain Archibald B. Kyger, pilot of the four-engined Cuban DC-4 airliner which crashed and exploded in the Credos Mountains 90 miles west of Madrid, Spain, Thursday, was received today by Kyger's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Kyger, of Elkton, Rockingham County. The confirmation was by Mrs. June Kyger, widow of the pilot, now living at Miami, Fla., who had received official word from airlines officials.

At least nine person aboard the plane perished in the crash.

ELKTON, Feb. 11 - The body of Archibald Kyger, 27, son of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Kyger, of Elkton, will be flown here from Spain for burial, his wife was notified in Miami. Kyger was killed when the four-engined Cuban air liner he was piloting crashed in the mountains near Madrid. Formerly pilot of a B-29, he flew 18 months over the Himalayas during the war, compiling a record of 144,000 miles. He received the Distinguished Flying Cross and other honors. Besides his wife and parents, he is survived by the following brother and sisters; Howard and Joseph Kyger, Elkton; Mrs. W. N. Rhine and Mrs. Kenneth Jenkins, Washington, and Master Sergeant William Kyger, Canal Zone.
