Funeral services will follow the visitation at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, October 30, at Fry Funeral Home, Tipton, with Rev. Ron Lashmit officiating. Burial will be in the Tipton Masonic Cemetery, Tipton, Iowa.
Margaret Leona Dicks was born July 4, 1928, in Albia, the daughter of William and Emma (Henderson) Dicks. She married Veryl Ray Zippe in 1951. They were the parents of Sandy and Dennis. Margaret and Veryl were later divorced. She married Hugh Thomas Ellis on October 27, 1990, in Cedar Rapids. Together they owned the E Avenue Tap in Cedar Rapids for many years, until the devastating 2008 flood that closed their business. Hugh preceded her in death on July 24, 2010. She moved to Tipton to be closer to her son and daughter-in-law. She lived at Tipton Senior Park for four years, until moving into the Clarence Nursing Home in Clarence.
Surviving are one son, Dennis (April) Zippe of Tipton; three granddaughters, Chelsea (Tod) Gottschalk of Tipton, Kaysea (Harry Harkins) Zippe of Clarence and Mariah (Michael) Haedike of Lowden; several great-grandchildren; and one half sister, Janice Dicks of Albia.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her step-mother, her husband, one daughter, Sandy Zippe, four sisters, Ruth Tutor, Otha Dicks, Esther Stephens and Grace Bloodsworth and two brothers, Clarence and Otis Dicks.
