William Gladstone "Buddy" Alexander Jr., age 82, passed away on Wednesday October 27, 2021, at his home in Marion.

Buddy was born to the late William Gladstone Alexander Sr. and Sylvia Bonn Perkins Alexander. He was preceded in death by a sister, Katherine Eppling, and a brother, Robert G. Alexander.

He worked at Brunswick, Smyth County Community Hospital and retired from the Virginia Game and Inland Fisheries with over 30 years of service. He was a member of the Valley View Baptist Church and enjoyed coloring.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Maggie Viola Alexander; daughter, Mary Jane Franklin of Ft. Mill, S.C.; brother, Kenny Alexander and wife, Debbie, of Marion, Va.; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday October 31, 2021, at the Bradley's Funeral Home in Marion, with Pastor Chuck Stout officiating. Interment will follow in the South Fork Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 1 until 2 p.m. prior to services.
