She passed away peacefully on August 17, 2021 at the age of 84.
Pat was born to Thelma "Sally" and Francis "Frank" Kavanaugh on April 25, 1937.
Her family was very close-knit and they all surrounded her with love and affection. She was the epitome of intelligence and beauty, serving as both Valedictorian and Prom Queen for her graduating class, Bishop Byrne in 1955. Shortly after her high school graduation, she married Darrell Hicks, and they built a beautiful life together with their 6 children: Mike, Terri, Ronnie, Buddy, Tammy and Trish.
Pat was a truly devoted wife, mother and grandmother, dedicating her life to the care of her children and keeping her beautiful home and garden. She was an avid vintage decor collector, incredible gardener, master quilter, bridge player and loyal friend to many. She was a member and served on the board of the Golden Triangle Quilt Guild and won many awards for her quilts. She was a doting and wonderful grandmother, affectionately known as "Memaw," who was always ready to play a game of scrabble, make a homecooked meal, sew up a project and cheer at a PNG football game -which they attended religiously. She and Darrell also spent much of their time camping and traveling over the years. Pat was sure to always pick up an antique treasure, a sewing pattern, a piece of fabric or packet of seeds to bring home. She cherished her family above all else, and her family loved her infectious laugh. They were always sure to have a great time and a delicious meal any time they entered her home. She enjoyed being surrounded by those she loved, as well as sharing fun stories and preserving her family's history.
Pat is proceeded in death by her parents, Frank Kavanaugh, Sally Saylor, and Truman Saylor, many beloved family members including her Aunt Helen Kavanaugh (105866719), Uncle Fritz Kavanaugh and Uncle Joe Kavanaugh.
